SAN MATEO‑FOSTER CITY, Calif. — Karina Wilhelms, executive director of the San Mateo‑Foster City Education Foundation, told the school board on June 26 that the foundation’s fundraising for the 2024–25 year totaled $670,287.
Wilhelms said the total includes a $180,000 check to be used specifically for staff support and out‑of‑classroom enrichment such as stipends for club advisors, Lego lab staffing in elementary schools, arts and science assemblies, and bus transportation for field trips. She listed grants and supports funded this year, including $25,000 in musical instruments for middle schools, middle school athletics support, best‑buddies program assistance at several elementary sites, summer‑camp scholarships, matched teacher grants and school supply drives for Title I elementary schools.
Wilhelms told trustees the foundation will wait until the August meeting for a formal public presentation and sponsor recognition when more people can attend for photographs.
Quote: "The San Mateo‑Foster City Education Foundation's 2024–25 gift from our fundraising this year amounts to $670,287," Wilhelms said during the meeting.
The foundation’s gift supplements district programming and enrichment services; staff said the timing allows the district to plan distribution for the upcoming school year. The foundation’s detailed distribution plan and formal presentation are expected at the board’s August meeting.
