Walton County schedules 'Housing Summit 2.0' for May 13 with public sessions and legislative update

Organizers of Walton County's 'Housing Summit 2.0' told the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee that the event will be an all-day public summit on May 13 beginning at about 9 a.m. and running to 4 p.m., hosted at Destiny Worship in Freeport.
At the meeting, Bicari Dickerson of the Emerald Coast Regional Council and Ryan Mims said the summit will include a panel of local and outside speakers, an immersive ALICE (asset limited, income constrained, employed) exercise to illustrate the challenges facing working households, vendor exhibits and developers, and a legislative update from the Florida Housing Coalition. Ryan Mims said registration is required, primarily to manage lunch logistics, and that a QR code and Facebook link are available for sign-ups.
Melissa Ward and other committee members urged broader outreach and suggested adding summit information to the county's affordable-housing webpage so residents and stakeholders can more easily find registration details. Organizers said Centennial Bank, working through Habitat for Humanity, is underwriting the event lunch and that a draft agenda will be shared with committee members and the public before the summit.
