The Los Banos Unified School District board took a series of actions Tuesday night, authorizing construction bidding for Volta Elementary, advancing policy updates and reporting personnel and student-discipline outcomes from closed session.
Miss Monday presented the Volta Elementary modernization scope and asked the board to authorize seeking competitive bids. Member Le moved to authorize bid solicitation and Member Moran seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
On policy, the board declared its intent to adopt updated board policies and administrative regulations as a first reading (including BP/AR items referenced by number in the staff packet). Trustees were told the policies will return for final action at a later meeting; one trustee noted some printed copies had margins cut off and replacements were provided.
The board approved the consent calendar in a roll-call vote with seven trustees voting yes. The meeting's closed-session report listed three actions: expulsions for three students (case numbers read on the record) with referral to Valley Community School, denial of a liability claim against the district, and approval of early graduation for 18 Crossroads Alternative Education Center students. Each closed-session action was reported with motions and recorded 7-0 votes where noted.
Trustees thanked staff for the meeting preparations and were reminded that upcoming items will return for additional review and that staff will provide corrected policy copies and audit pages where needed.
