CSEA reads 2025-26 sunshine proposal to Colton Joint Unified board; no public speakers

The Colton Joint Unified board opened a public hearing Oct. 2 to receive the California School Employees Association (CSEA) Chapter 244s 2025-26 reopeners, read aloud by Chapter President Anthony Guama.
"The California School Employees Association and its chapter 244 present our initial proposal to negotiate 25-26 reopeners," Guama read. The proposal listed planned bargaining topics including Article 4 (grievances and association release time), Article 6 (compensation and a request for cola tied to the 2025-26 California state budget), Article 7 (salary classification and reclassification procedures), Article 8 (health and welfare benefits), Article 9 (hours and compensation for mandatory training), Article 10 (assignments and transfer procedures), Article 12 (leave provisions), Article 17 (discipline and dismissal procedures), Article 18 (layoff and reemployment seniority), Article 20 (orientation and inservice training) and Article 28 (transportation employee policies). The chapter also proposed appendix updates to capture technology changes and include additional classifications.
Board President Dan Flores opened and then closed the hearing after the reading; the board received no speaker slips on the item and took no immediate action. Two additional sunshine hearings (Association of Colton Educators items) were opened and closed with no public comment. The board also opened and closed a hearing on Resolution No. 2619 (certifying sufficiency of instructional materials under the Williams settlement for 2025-26) with no public testimony recorded.
