Colton High student leaders report strong attendance, AP results and fall events at school board meeting

Colton High School student leaders presented a year-in-review to the Colton Joint Unified School District Board of Education on Oct. 2, highlighting academic gains, extracurricular wins and a packed fall calendar.
"My name is Christian Jason and I am the senior class president at Colton High School," said Christian Jason as he outlined student achievements. Student presenters reported that Colton High students averaged a 3.62 GPA, maintained an attendance rate above 98 percent for featured students, and that the Renaissance and PBIS programs recognized large numbers of students: 111 student-of-the-month awards, 65 PBIS awards and 198 academic letters.
The presentation noted 172 AP exams were passed in May 2025; 32 students earned the AP Scholar award and one student earned AP Scholar with Honor. Students also summarized campus events last spring and summer — a CTE Culinary Arts ribbon-cutting, a visit from author Luis Rodriguez, Solarbo robotics competition participation, and senior traditions such as ceremonies, grad night and senior celebrations.
Students previewed fall dates including homecoming activities Oct. 9, a fire-prevention assembly Oct. 10, the college-and-career fair Oct. 27 and other events through late October into November.
Board members praised the presentations. Board Member Fuentes told the students, "you guys did an awesome job," and other trustees commended their poise and leadership on campus.
The presentation concluded with student leaders reminding peers about PBIS lessons, upcoming Renaissance reward days and ongoing leadership programs such as Link Crew aimed at easing freshman transitions. Board members asked no follow-up motions; the board moved on to other agenda items after the Q&A period.
