The Calexico Unified Board of Trustees used the reconvened portion of its meeting to honor longtime employee Janet Burgos and to introduce the district’s newly hired administrative assistant.
A speaker noted the district held a celebration earlier in the day for Janet Burgos, who retired after 33 years with the district, and said, "she's going to be missed a lot," while praising Burgos as an outstanding employee. The board formally presented Miss Gio in her new role to support board agendas and assist the superintendent’s office.
In her first remarks to the board, Miss Gio said, "It is a privilege for me to take this role... I want to thank my family for being here," and added she looks forward to serving the superintendent and the board. Trustees and staff offered congratulations and welcomed her transition into the position, saying she already knows district systems and people which should ease the changeover.
The transcript records congratulatory remarks from multiple board members and staff and notes that Janet Burgos' parents attended the meeting. No personnel documents or retirement resolution text were included in the public transcript.
