Staff presented the annual LCFF local performance indicator self‑reflection, covering instructional staff credentials, instructional materials and facilities, parent and family engagement, school climate (California Healthy Kids Survey for grades 7, 9 and 11), and access to a broad course of study. The presentation explained the district’s 1–5 implementation scale and noted areas of progress and continued need for improvement.
On school climate measures, staff highlighted results for school connectedness, caring adult relationships, high expectations and academic motivation and noted that some measures decline in higher grades. Trustees asked for aggregated benchmarks and comparison data to understand where subgroups stand relative to district averages and the state.
Trustees raised concerns about an apparent cluster of resignations among special education teachers reported in a certificated human resources summary. Staff said the June 25 report may overstate the trend because some staff resigned after credentialing options were exhausted and several had agreed to sub while pursuing additional certification; trustees requested follow‑up data explaining reasons for resignations and retention strategies (including cohort test‑prep or district support programs).
Staff also announced plans to begin using Peachjar next school year to distribute interactive, multi‑language community and school flyers electronically and described steps to improve accessibility. Trustees asked that the community schools update include specific detail on the proposed parent hub structure and parent ambassadors so the Board can consider it in its governance calendar.
Multiple trustees urged creation of multimodal feedback loops, a student advisory committee and more consistent communications so families know about programs and community events, citing examples of neighboring districts with newsletters and student leadership opportunities.
No formal action was taken on these informational items; trustees requested the detailed data, schedule and parent hub plan be returned at a future meeting.
