Board praises counselors and funds partners for Project Adventure, Camp Soore summer program

Mr. Harper introduced counselor recognitions and congratulated Heather Pike, Kayla Treadway and Felicia Lester for earning the ASCA RAMP designation, noting the multi‑year process and that only a small number of schools nationwide have the recognition.
Katie Johnson and Shelby Holt described Project Adventure, a field‑day program for fourth and fifth graders that showcases community partner activities, and Camp Soore, a six‑week summer camp held at Fayette County Park. The presenters said Project Adventure is a school‑based field trip (dates in April) and Camp Soore provides a mix of water sports, music, crafts and partner‑led activities. They emphasized transportation support from the board, partnerships with local organizations and scholarship assistance that can reduce the fee from $75 per week to as low as $7.50.
Shelby Holt said camps and outreach are intended to provide positive childhood experiences and to replace some lost summer capacity after Energy Express discontinued operations in parts of the valley. The presenters asked the board to continue logistical support for transportation and partnerships and to help publicize the program to families.
The board and presenters also described a data‑walk approach the Project Adventure partners use to present local youth data and measure program outcomes.
