The El Rancho Unified School District board ratified the employment contract for the interim superintendent during its Dec. 16 meeting, after staff provided an oral summary of the major compensation and benefit provisions required by law.
The summary read by legal/fiscal staff stated the superintendent’s annual base salary at $255,000 (which includes 12% longevity pay), a $2,500 stipend tied to an advanced degree, 30 days of paid vacation per year, 12 days of sick leave, district-provided health and life insurance in line with certificated management staff, a $600-per-month automobile stipend, and up to $10,000 for professional development expenses. The board voted by roll call to ratify the contract.
Board members publicly thanked the superintendent for taking on the role and expressed confidence in district leadership moving forward.
Why it matters: The ratification secures district leadership amid fiscal and programmatic challenges and clarifies the compensation package for the interim superintendent.
What’s next: The superintendent will continue to work with trustees and staff on fiscal stabilization, staffing, facilities work and community engagement as the district moves into 2026.
