Two Bridges students spoke to the Prior Lake–Savage Area Schools board on March 9 about project‑based learning (PBL) in their program. Anastasia Odar presented a chemistry credit project on PFAS, describing why she picked the topic and what she learned about the environmental persistence of those compounds. Anastasia told the board, "PBL stands for project-based learning and it's something that we work on every day at Bridges" and explained that the project helped her learn about the chemistry of pollution.
Sydney Staer, a Bridges senior, described a health-credit PBL about Alpha‑1 that stemmed from a personal connection and said the PBL format helped her stay engaged and learn real‑life applications.
Assistant principal David Brown and teachers praised PBL for increasing student engagement, lowering dropout risk and supporting multiple post‑secondary pathways. Dr. Thomas and board members thanked the students and presented certificates and photographs following the presentations.
The presentations were part of a regular "Laker Pride" segment highlighting student work.
