Conservation commission recommends examining an updated Natural Resource Inventory; staff to research costs and post materials

Members of the Town of Farmington Conservation Commission raised a request to consider commissioning an updated Natural Resource Inventory (NRI). Commissioners noted the existing inventory is from 2007 and that land-use and habitat conditions have changed since then; a member said more recent data would help inform the current Conservation and Development plan.
Bruce (town staff) said the work typically involves consultants with wetland and forestry expertise and that, because of cost, an updated NRI would likely need to be programmed in an upcoming budget or a capital improvement item. He agreed to circulate the executive summary and existing GIS materials already on the town website and to investigate cost estimates for a full update.
Outcome: Staff will repost the available NRI materials and return with cost information and recommendations for how to fund or phase a full update.
