Three residents seek two at-large seats on Fletcher Planning and Zoning Board

Julia Fogle, a Fletcher native and local small-business operator, told the Fletcher Town Council she wants to join the planning and zoning board to help guide the town's continued growth and improve walkability. "I would love to be a part of its continued growth and development," Fogle said, noting her experience managing local commercial property and an RV park.

Jacob Copper described his professional experience as a regional planner and certified floodplain manager and said he would bring technical expertise to local land-use decisions. "I'd like to use this expertise to help Fletcher the best I can," Copper said, adding that he would prioritize planning approaches that avoid overdevelopment and preserve community character.

Michael Tani, an architect with experience in school and residential design, told the council he supports preserving Fletcher's heritage while promoting connected, walkable neighborhoods. "Part of Fletcher's overlay plan is the reason why I bought a house here," Tani said, and he emphasized pragmatic, code-based solutions during review and permitting.

Council members explained the vacancy timeline: one seat opened when a board member recently resigned and a second at-large seat is available as the board is being rebalanced by district. Staff said the council will appoint two individuals at its next meeting. The council welcomed the applicants and allowed brief questioning from members about priorities such as library improvements, traffic and meeting availability.

The council did not take a vote on the candidates at this meeting; appointments are scheduled for the next regular meeting.
