Palmetto Boys & Girls Club youth recognized at Bradenton council meeting

Shaylin Johnson, the Palmetto club’s Youth of the Year participant, described hardship during COVID, finding refuge and leadership through the club’s art programs, and projects including murals honoring long‑time club mentors. Johnson said the club helped her become Keystone vice president and encouraged her academic and artistic goals. Council members offered congratulations and invited the youth and parents forward for a commemorative photograph.
Council used the presentation to commend local youth programming and suggested potential partnerships like youth councils and PAL programming tied to the new City Park.
