Santa Paula Unified unveils construction career pathway to give students skills and certifications

Santa Paula Unified School District officials and city representatives unveiled a new construction career pathway intended to equip students with hands-on skills and industry certifications, a presenter said.

The presenter said, "In this place, students will explore the possibilities within [the] construction industry and so much more. They'll leave not just with skills, but with certifications, confidence, and a sense of pride in what they've accomplished here." The program is a partnership between Santa Paula Unified School District, the city of Santa Paula and representatives of the international trades, the presenter added.

The presenter introduced the program instructor only as "Mr. Diaz," saying he would "be leading the charge," and thanked many unnamed contributors for making the program possible. "This could not have been possible without a lot of people doing what they did," the presenter said.

And because of these young people, they're going to be on those projects going forward," the presenter said, connecting student training to future county building projects.
