Travis Unified board appoints Jen Buzzich as Scandia Elementary principal

The Travis Unified School District Board on April 1 announced the closed-session appointment of Jen Buzzich as principal of Scandia Elementary, effective July 1, 2025. The board reported the appointment was approved by a unanimous vote.
The board said the motion to appoint Buzzich was made by Trustee Extramm and seconded by Trustee Deprad; the chair reported a four-to-zero vote in favor. A district representative introduced Buzzich to the board, citing roughly 20 years of experience “as a teacher, coach, principal, site administrator” and work with county and state partners.
“I’m very excited for this opportunity and look forward to being a saber,” Buzzich said after the board’s vote. Members of the Scandia PTA presented a welcome gift and invited Buzzich and her family to participate in future fundraisers.
The appointment was announced at the start of the public meeting after the board reconvened from closed session. No additional personnel action was taken at the April meeting; the board said it will return to regular business following the appointment.
The board’s formal minutes and personnel file will contain the official record of the motion, second and final vote.
