Bellmawr council swears in two newly elected members and names Ray Berer council president

At its Dec. 6 meeting, Bellmawr Borough Council swore in newly elected council members Craig R. Wilhelm and William R. Evans and unanimously elected Ray Berer as council president; Assemblyman Bill Spearman offered brief remarks of support.
Craig R. Wilhelm and William R. Evans were sworn into the Bellmawr Borough Council during the Dec. 6 meeting, and the council unanimously selected Ray Berer as president of the council.
The municipal clerk read certificates of election declaring Craig R. Wilhelm and William R. Evans duly elected, and each took the oath of office. Family members came forward for both swearing-in ceremonies; both events were followed by applause.
After roll call confirmed a full complement of councilmembers present, the mayor put forward a nomination for council president. The council moved, seconded and voted by roll call to elect Ray Berer to the 2025 presidency. After taking the oath, Berer concluded the ceremony, saying, "so help me God."
Assemblyman Bill Spearman, introduced by the mayor and seated in the audience, offered brief remarks congratulating the council and saying the district is available to help: "If the fifth district can be of any assistance to you guys just let us know." The mayor and council also introduced department heads and other guests in attendance, including Police Chief Bill Perna and OEM coordinator Dan Derenzo.
The ceremony and leadership selection concluded with brief congratulatory remarks by several councilmembers and holiday greetings to residents. The council then moved to routine business on the agenda.
