Northwestern Lehigh SD posts 54 curriculum documents for 30‑day public review; board plans final approval in May

The Northwestern Lehigh School District board on Tuesday presented 54 revised curriculum documents for first reading and will post them on the district website for a 30‑day public review ahead of a planned final vote in May.

NWLSD Presenter said the package focuses on written objectives — "what the students know and can be able to do" — and that those objectives are the portion that requires board approval. The presenter told the board some documents are intentionally incomplete in areas such as materials and timeframes because those operational details will be filled in later.

The district emphasized that posting the materials for at least 30 days gives the public an opportunity to review changes and submit questions before final approval. A board member asked whether some listed courses had not yet been taught; the district responded that the list includes both new courses and replacements of prior course titles, and that local staff will continue to refine non-objective elements during implementation.

District leaders said the intent is to keep objectives stable after approval: "The goal is to never ever change the objectives, once it's board approved," the presenter said.
