The Santa Rosa City Council issued proclamations recognizing National Surveyors Week (March 15–21, 2026), the Luther Burbank Home & Gardens centennial programs and the city’s annual Week of the Tree.
Mayor Mark Stap read the proclamations and invited representatives forward. Bruce John, speaking for the Sonoma County chapter of the surveying association, thanked the Council for the recognition. Linda Hall and volunteers from Luther Burbank Home & Gardens described volunteer contributions (staff cited 9,076.25 volunteer hours in 2025 valued at the state rate) and promoted a spring plant sale and an April exhibition. Parks Superintendent James Castro discussed the City’s tree‑planting plans for March and April and announced planting and volunteer events.
Councilmembers and members of the public used the proclamations period to note equity in tree canopy, upcoming community cleanups and volunteer registration procedures. No formal Council action was required beyond issuing proclamations.
