"The intent is for this lot to be for the Paycom Center employees and then other restaurant employees in the area," Bloyd said.
The variance was originally approved in 2023 with a temporary timeline; Bloyd said delays tied to nearby arena and site development left the project on hold but now the applicant is ready to move forward. Board members pressed for a shorter extension in light of continuing uncertainty about long‑term plans around the new Maps 4 stadium to the south.
One board member said they were "struggling with indefinitely extending again for another three years if there's no game plan," and a motion was offered to approve the variance with a two‑year extension to encourage the applicant to produce more concrete development plans. The motion was seconded and the board voted to approve the variance with the modification.
