Residents press Garfield council on parking and clogged ditch during public comment

Another resident described a ditch near the old credit union that traps garbage behind a fence and expressed concern that debris could exacerbate flooding. Council said staff would ask the Department of Public Works superintendent to inspect the site, requested a photo from the resident if available, and promised follow-up.
Council members also offered community announcements: Memorial Day ceremonies were listed (9:15 a.m. at City Hall bell and an 11 a.m. monument ceremony on Midland Avenue), and a council member said the VFW donated $5,000 toward street banners; the council discussed how those funds would be allocated.
