The chair told members that several bills not on the printed report would be in the package and referred to special language: Senate Bill 63, Senate Bill 67 and Senate Bill 73, along with House Bill 1089, House Bill 1090 and House Bill 1093. The chair said the items would be included in members’ packages for review.
A member noted amendment C1, filed by Senator Irvin to the Department of Health, contains special language. The same member also noted amendment C2, by Senator Mark Johnson, to the office of the treasurer — and an additional amendment by Senator Mark Johnson to the State Board of Election Commission — also contain special language.
Senator Johnson asked to keep item B4 on hold while he gathers more information; the chair agreed and asked members to work with agencies to resolve issues over the weekend so items can be taken up next Tuesday. "We need to start wrapping those up and moving through whatever the concerns are and getting those to a conclusion, next Thursday unless there is some very strong valid reason," the chair said.
Senator Hester asked members to notify leadership when agencies fail to be responsive or to meet to work through concerns so leadership can intervene if needed. The meeting then adjourned.
