Residents raise ADA access, sewer connection and roadside maintenance concerns in Oktibbeha County public comments

Three residents addressed the Board during the citizens’ comment period April 6.
Alvin Turner urged the Board to address potential Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) violations, specifically citing Sections 2 and 3, and reported a sinkhole in the Sunset community plus infrastructure problems on Jack Road that he said affect elderly residents. The Board formally acknowledged his comments on a motion by Supervisor Joe Williams.
Dewayne Prisock, representing the East Oktibbeha Water Association, requested county approval to install a 1,700-foot sewer connection for a new church on Hickory Grove Road and sought a permit to work in the county right-of-way. The Board discussed the need for an engineering review of specifications and utility agreements and voted unanimously to table the request until the County Engineer reviews the project specs and reports back.
William Oakley asked the Board to increase pressure when spraying growth regulator along his mile of frontage on Oktoc Road so spray reaches through his fence line and reduces the need for fall bush-hogging, which he said damages his property. The Board acknowledged his comments and later voted to table further action to allow coordination with the Road Department.
