Arkansas House honors Junior League centennial, several state championship teams and Special Olympics athlete

The House also recognized several state championship teams. Representative Mark McElroy presented House Resolution 10 18 honoring the Barton High School Bears as the 2026 Class 2A state basketball champions; the resolution records the championship game score (89–44) at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs and the team’s season record of 34 wins and 5 losses. McElroy congratulated the players and coaching staff in the chamber.
Representative Perrier presented House Resolution 10 23 recognizing Justin Tate of Elkins for his selection as a guardian of the flame for the final leg of the law enforcement torch run leading to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis. Perrier noted Tate’s involvement in Arkansas Special Olympics and the role’s duties beginning 05/30/2026.
Other recognitions read in title or in full included resolutions honoring the Elkins High School Elks (Class 4A football, 2025), Little Rock Hall High School boys basketball (Class 4A state champions, 2026), the Mansfield High School Lady Tigers volleyball team (2025 Class 3A champions, 33–7 record, 14–0 conference), the Mansfield High School Tigers football team (2025 Class 3A champions), and the Rogers Heritage High School War Eagles (2025 Class 6A boys soccer champions). Representative John Carr led the recognition for Rogers Heritage, and Representative McCullough presented the Little Rock Hall recognition.
Representative Pierce presented House Resolution 10 37 proclaiming 04/21/2026 as Arkansas Line Worker Appreciation Day at the state capitol, commending utility line workers for their service, work in hazardous conditions and roles in storm response.
