House approves bill to fund expenses of the fiscal session

The Arkansas House of Representatives on the floor passed House Bill 1,001, an appropriation to cover the expenses of the fiscal session, and approved the bill’s emergency clause by voice and recorded votes. "This is just the appropriation for the expenses of the fiscal session," Representative Vaught said in presenting the measure, adding, "I would appreciate a good vote."
The Clerk had read the bill title to the chamber before Representative Vaught’s brief explanation. The Chair put the question on passage and the roll call showed 96 yeas, 0 nays and 1 present; the Chair then announced, "You have passed the bill and the emergency clause." The recorded tally was read aloud by the Clerk and announced by the presiding officer.
Immediately afterward Representative Stephen Meeks moved pursuant to House Rule 33M to adjourn until 1:00 p.m. tomorrow. The Chair called a voice vote, the Chair said "the ayes have it," and the motion carried.
Members also made scheduling announcements about committee meetings, including a Joint Budget Committee claims meeting and JBC personnel and Rules Committee briefings scheduled following adjournment. With 97 members recorded present earlier in the session the Chair had announced a quorum for the day's business.
The House will reconvene at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow to continue its calendar.
