Henry County Commission awards road-and-bridge bid to Vogler of Carbondale

The Henry County Commission voted March 5 to accept a low bid from Vogler of Carbondale, Illinois, for a described “450” item for the road and bridge department, the commission record shows.

Road and Bridge Supervisor Dennis Bowers opened three bids at the meeting. He read bids from MHC of Springfield ($76,200) and Greg Smith Ford of Clinton ($74,800) and reported a bid from Vogler of Carbondale; the transcript records the Vogler amount as a garbled figure. The commission briefly discussed contract specifications, including questions about rock size and whether the contract should specify material size or color. Commissioners agreed to have staff clarify details before final procurement steps.
