The Greenville County Committee on Finance approved a request for a $2 million general obligation bond to replace fire apparatus for the Donaldson Center Fire District, the committee voted.
Fire Chief Mark Pitman told the committee the district seeks the bond because one reserve pumper from 2001 has exceeded its recommended service life and a 2012 pumper has reached the end of frontline service. "We're here today to request approval of a general obligation bond in amount of $2 million to replace a fire apparatus that has met and exceeded the life under NFPA guidelines," Pitman said.
Pitman said the county's GEO bond issued in 2019 was paid in full in April and that the new request was structured to minimize additional millage. He stated the projected impact "will have no effect on any homeowner's property taxes." The committee offered no further substantive questions during discussion.
A committee member moved to approve the bond request and the committee approved it by voice vote. The motion passed and the committee moved on to other agenda items.
The bond request as described on the record will fund replacement of the apparatus; the committee did not record a roll-call tally or name a mover and seconder in the transcript.
