Inglewood Unified board elects Dr. Carlos McGee president, names Meyers vice president and fills committee seats

The Inglewood Unified School District board convened its annual organizational meeting Dec. 10 and elected Dr. Carlos McGee as board president and Brandon Meyers as vice president.
Mr. Ernesto Castillo nominated McGee for president, a motion seconded by Joyce Randall; the nomination passed on a roll call vote with members recorded in favor. Randall moved Meyers for vice president; the board approved that nomination with Meyers recorded as abstaining.
The board also appointed representatives to 11 standing committees, including the Child Development Center Parent Collaborative (Dr. McGee and Meyers), the Inglewood Educational Foundation (Dr. McGee), the Los Angeles County Committee on School District Organization (Ernesto Castillo), the Los Angeles County School Trustees Association (Margaret Turner Evans), the Southern California Regional Occupational Center (Margaret Turner Evans, alternate Brandon Meyers), the Intergovernmental Relations Committee (Ernesto Castillo and Margaret Turner Evans), the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee (Brandon Meyers), the Audit and Finance Committee (Brandon Meyers), the Asset Management Advisory Committee (Brandon Meyers), and the Facilities Advisory Committee (Ernesto Castillo and Joyce Randall). The board reinstated a Public Relations Committee with Randall and McGee assigned.
The county administrator was authorized to continue serving as secretary to the board. Board members said they will adjourn the organizational meeting briefly and reconvene the regular session to address the evening’s agenda.
