Tom Lloyd of CCTV interviewed Carrie from the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County about Ruby, a 2½-year-old dog being featured as CCTV’s pet of the month. Ruby is deaf but responds to some commands and learned to sit for a treat; staff said she generally prefers petting to treats.
Carrie said Ruby was adopted briefly in 2024 but was returned in February because of landlord and housing difficulties. Shelter staff described behavioral notes for potential adopters: Ruby can be “a little nippy” with children and is not especially dog-friendly, so an adult-only, single-dog household would be the best fit.
