Summary
Tom Lloyd interviews Carrie from the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County about Ruby, a 2½-year-old deaf dog returned to the shelter in February after housing problems; staff say she’d do best in an adult-only, single-dog home and can be seen via awfelter.org.

Tom Lloyd of CCTV interviewed Carrie from the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County about Ruby, a 2½-year-old dog being featured as CCTV’s pet of the month. Ruby is deaf but responds to some commands and learned to sit for a treat; staff said she generally prefers petting to treats.
Carrie said Ruby was adopted briefly in 2024 but was returned in February because of landlord and housing difficulties. Shelter staff described behavioral notes for potential adopters: Ruby can be “a little nippy” with children and is not especially dog-friendly, so an adult-only, single-dog household would be the best fit.
The segment closed with a reminder that anyone interested in meeting Ruby or other animals at the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County can call the shelter or visit awfelter.org. For CCTV’s pet of the month, Tom Lloyd presented the feature.
