Vinton council approves wastewater plant pay application and authorizes blower repairs

The Vinton City Council on Jan. 23 approved pay application number 11 to Woodwor Construction for wastewater treatment plant improvements and authorized repairs to blower equipment, drawing funding from the city's sewer replacement fund.

Council members and staff described ongoing progress at the plant, including electricians on site and the recent return of repaired pumps. Council discussed that some equipment has run for decades without maintenance and that staff recommend removing motors to assess and improve efficiency. Council emphasized monitoring engineering fees and instructed that contractors build to plans unless the council directs changes, to limit extra costs.
