Vinton resident announces run for Benton County supervisor, cites property tax and land-use concerns

During the public‑comment portion of the Vinton City Council meeting on Aug. 14, resident Bethany Hans introduced herself, provided her address and announced she is running for Benton County Supervisor, District 2.
“I’m running for Benton County Supervisor next year, District 2,” Hans said, identifying property tax reform and property‑rights issues as her priorities. She told the council that county revenues have “doubled” in recent years and said she wants to explore ways the county can reduce the tax burden while updating ordinances she described as keeping new businesses from locating in the county.
Hans said she previously served on the Benton City Council from 2021 to 2024 and that she has lived in Benton County for more than 20 years. She described herself as a midwife who owns her own business and said she will be campaigning across the county in the coming year.
Councilmembers thanked Hans for speaking and wished her well; the public‑comment period is informational and the council took no action on the announcement.
