Public commenters raise homelessness services and a homeowner’s retrofit complaint

Two public commenters spoke during the Housing Advisory Board’s public participation period on March 25. William Sweeney, an executive with Bridge House, described the organization’s history in Boulder and its Ready to Work program, which he said provides up to a year of housing and training to people exiting homelessness. Sweeney noted the organization’s origins, past name changes and weeknight meal service and said he would follow up with the board and staff as requested.
Separately, resident Lynn Segal reported serious problems with a city‑administered energy retrofit at her home. Segal said she waited more than two years, described about $55,000 in retrofit components that remain malfunctioning and said she was excluded from decisions during the retrofit. She also alleged corruption in the vendor selection process related to county energy programs; staff did not investigate the allegation during the meeting and encouraged Segal to contact staff by email to pursue the issue.
Board members thanked both commenters and encouraged residents to use the public comment process for substantive input. The meeting returned to its agenda and later took up the draft Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan presentation by city planning staff.
