Climate Action Forum narrows short-term focus to EV charging for multifamily housing and renewable-energy actions

The Climate Action Forum discussed a small public-survey exercise that produced a short list of climate priorities and recommended staff focus on two near-term, high-impact items.
Shannon O'Hare reviewed the prioritization quadrant compiled from five submissions and said the items with the clearest crossover were EV-charging in existing commercial parking (with forum members urging a refocus toward multifamily housing) and renewable-energy measures tied to appliance replacement and building electrification.
"One of those is LCTC1G which is accommodate new electric vehicle charging stations in existing commercial parking lots," O'Hare said, noting forum members' suggestion to emphasize multifamily housing where renters lack private charging. Members urged staff to cross-reference the countywide EV-acceleration strategy and the countywide building-electrification roadmap to update local language and align priorities.
Forum direction: members asked staff to scope each prioritized item—provide a timeline, time-and-effort estimate and cost ranges—and return with a recommended tiered approach (what the city can do immediately at low cost, mid-term steps and longer-term requirements). Forum members suggested a staff-backed 'backlog' and sprint approach to sequentially advance priority items.
Next steps: staff agreed to cross-reference county documents, refine the language for the two prioritized items (EV charging with multifamily emphasis; renewable-energy/appliance replacement), and return with scoping information and a recommended sequencing plan for council consideration.
