"This bill, SB 363, is a uh transparency bill that calls for the creation of a database inside of Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, commonly known as ADECA," the vice chairman said. He said the fiscal note estimates roughly $500,000 for start-up costs and about $250,000 per year to maintain the database.
Committee members asked no substantive follow-up questions in the transcript, and the committee cleared the bill by voice vote.
The measure seeks to centralize grant information to improve public transparency, according to the presentation to the committee.
