Planning commission finds Temple Terrace driveway and off-street parking code amendments consistent

The Hillsborough County City Planning Commission on March 9 voted to find consistent a Temple Terrace Land Development Code text amendment to Section 12-921 that revises off-street parking and driveway requirements.
Temple Terrace staff member Kim Ford introduced the proposal, saying it corrects errors in the existing driveway detail and clarifies apron, slope and ADA considerations so stormwater remains in the street rather than flowing down driveways into garages. Staff also presented a county driveway detail to be adopted locally and said inspections and contractor utility-marking (811) would be required.
Planning Commission staff (Yeneika Mills) said the amendment is consistent with applicable land-use objectives and mobility policies related to pedestrian safety and walkability. Commissioners asked whether the change had been received publicly and whether it had been adopted locally in Temple Terrace; staff replied this presentation is the city's first formal step and the revision has been well received in permitting conversations.
Commissioner Linkous moved and Commissioner Bowden seconded a motion finding the amendment consistent with Temple Terrace's comprehensive plan. The chair called the vote and announced the motion carried unanimously. The commission will return the item as required for subsequent procedural steps in the adoption process.
The commission's action is a consistency finding for the municipal text amendment; the city retains authority to adopt the ordinance and implement the amended details through its permitting and inspection workflow.
