At its meeting Monday, the Vallejo City Unified School District governing board recorded several formal actions taken in closed session and during open session, approving settlement proposals, consenting to routine items and authorizing a procedural insurance-notice step.
Closed-session settlements
The board reported unanimous votes in closed session approving settlement proposals resolving claims in two named special-education dispute cases (case numbers 2025100261 and 2025033F) and a third settlement in an anticipated special-education dispute for which no case number was provided. Minutes said the actions resolved “all claims” in the listed matters; no financial terms were reported in open session.
Consent calendar
Trustees voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda (items AA through M), with roll call confirming each trustee’s vote.
Insurance notice (Resolution 5088)
Assistant Superintendent Fernandez presented Resolution 5088 authorizing the district to submit formal notice of withdrawal from the Schools Excess Liability Fund effective July 1, 2026, if the board later chooses to change coverage. The staff described the step as procedural and said it does not commit the district to leave the pool but preserves flexibility to seek other market options. Vice President Amboy moved approval, Dr. Young seconded and the resolution passed unanimously.
