AOS 93 board members moved on April 1 to clarify leadership after receiving a letter from the sitting chair that said he was "stepping aside" but did not state an immediate resignation. A board member moved to remove Christian from the chair position to remove ambiguity; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Following that action, the board nominated and approved Matt Benner as the new AOS 93 board chair. Wayne Parland was nominated and approved as vice chair; members said the vice chair appointment will hold through July, when the board plans to reelect officers if a planned board expansion passes.
Board members thanked Christian for his service during the discussion. Members described the change as an interim housekeeping step to remove uncertainty about who would act as chair while the group finalizes other pending agenda items.
The officer changes were taken by voice vote with no roll-call tallies recorded in the minutes. The board said they will revisit officer elections in July if the governance changes to a six-person board proceed as planned.
The meeting then moved on to other agenda items, including calendar review and budget matters.
