Resident William Tedesco urged the council to press for stronger stormwater protections, saying the town’s drainage patterns worry him. “This is a courtmandated thing,” Tedesco said, adding he had seen flooding that he feared could worsen with new development. He urged larger retention capacities and maintenance of local brooks and retention areas.
Council members closed the hearing after Tedesco’s remarks and moved to adopt the redevelopment plan. Mr. Watkins read the ordinance at the meeting; the council then recorded a roll-call vote with all members present voting in favor.
The redevelopment plan will be advertised as a passed ordinance and will take effect as provided by law after required publications. The planning and engineering materials referred to during the hearing were not read into the record in detail at the meeting; council members noted engineers would continue to address technical issues including stormwater design when specific plans are reviewed.
