The Garfield Mayor's Council voted to approve Resolution R-166-25 on March 25, allowing a person-to-person transfer of a liquor license for a proposed Cedar Street establishment.
Council members heard from the license-holder's representative and the prospective operator, who said the venue will combine food and entertainment. The applicant described the concept as “a place where you come enjoy food, enjoy your time and listen and the entertainment. Yes, I plan on having live music.” Councilors asked about hours, delivery service and how music would be contained given nearby residences; the applicant said music would be contained inside.
Deputy Mayor Raymond moved to approve the transfer, Delaney seconded, and the motion carried on a roll-call vote. Council members wished the new business success and asked the applicant to notify the mayor's office when the grand opening date is set; the operator said he expects doors to open by the end of May.
The approval authorizes the city clerk to transmit the council action to the state for final processing, consistent with the municipal licensing procedure. No formal conditions beyond the usual state licensing requirements were recorded at the meeting.
The council acknowledged residents' proximity to the site and urged the new operator to be mindful of neighborhood impacts; there was applause after the vote. The mayor offered to coordinate a ribbon-cutting when the operator confirms the opening date.
