New Milford introduces bamboo‑control ordinance and a $10,200 fire‑equipment appropriation

Ordinance 2025 Col 26 would add section 12‑6 to chapter 12 (property maintenance) to regulate the planting and removal of running bamboo. The stated purpose is to protect private and public property from the spread of invasive running bamboo and to preserve indigenous plants and wildlife. The council voted to introduce the ordinance on first reading and scheduled a public hearing for the Sept. 29 meeting.
The council also introduced Capital Ordinance 2025 Col 27 to appropriate $10,200 from the borough capital improvement fund to acquire equipment for the New Milford Fire Department. The ordinance was introduced on first reading and will be on the Sept. 29 agenda for public comment and final action.
What happens next: Both ordinances will be the subject of public hearings at the borough’s Sept. 29 meeting; members of the public will have an opportunity to comment then.
