The Oakrove School District Board of Trustees on June 12 approved a package of capital projects to be funded from Measure P and other district sources and granted summer delegation of contracting authority so work can proceed while the board is not in session.
Associate Superintendent Mark Evans presented action items 7.3 through 7.7, describing scope and estimated costs. He said the Delro kindergarten-yard project (action 7.3) includes demolition of existing playground surfaces, new playbox preparation, installation of new playground equipment and resurfacing; the single bid received was within cost estimates and included a 10% owner allowance, with an estimated contract of $857,000 paid from Measure P.
For intermediate school tracks (action 7.4), staff recommended awarding lease-leaseback contracts for Bernal and Herman to Robert A. Bothman; those companies will manage subcontracting and permit review with the Division of the State Architect. Evans said the district hopes to begin track work in July or August, contingent on DSA approvals.
Evans described a Challenger roof replacement (action 7.5) on a leased property (former Dickinson Elementary) with an estimated contract cost of about $1.3 million (including owner allowance). He said asbestos abatement and air-quality testing will be completed before campus reoccupation. The STEAM at Stipe flooring replacement (action 7.7) was presented as a district-funded carpet installation using a CMAS agreement with RJ Flooring at $223,145 from Measure P.
The board voted by roll call to approve the bundled motion and to delegate authority to the superintendent to execute summer contracts where necessary so work can proceed in July and August while the board is not meeting. Evans said the district will bring contracts back for ratification at the September meeting or earlier if needed.
Why it matters: The approvals move forward scheduled site improvements ahead of the next school year and use Measure P funds for capital projects. Delegated contracting authority is common in June to allow summer construction to proceed.

(action 7.3) - Bernal and Herman intermediate tracks: award of lease-leaseback to Robert A.
