Planning commission reschedules April meetings around city election canvas

Commission discussion cited KMC 6.40.020, which requires the canvas board to meet seven days after an election. Because the council’s April 15 meeting was rescheduled to April 22 so the council could certify election results, the commission opted to cancel its April 8 meeting and move its April 22 meeting to April 29 at 7 p.m. Commissioners voiced agreement that the revised schedule would avoid double-booking the chambers and give council staff time to complete canvassing work.
The commission also discussed the possibility of scheduling a work session in April if a clear topic emerged; a date was not set. Staff said they would notify commissioners of any work session at least by the commission’s late‑March meeting.
The changes were agreed to by the commissioners in the meeting’s discussion and recorded as the commission’s plan for April.
