County transfers senior‑meals administration to Tri‑County Health Network

San Miguel County commissioners approved an administrative agreement March 18 to transfer remaining county funds and program administration for weekly senior meals to Tri‑County Health Network, effective April 1.
County staff said Tri‑County has the nonprofit status, operational capacity and interest to coordinate restaurants, volunteers and grant reporting for the program. The move addresses two constraints: the county is not a nonprofit (which limits outside philanthropic receipts) and county staffing changes make on‑the‑ground coordination more difficult. Tri‑County representatives will provide a staff presence at the meals, manage ordering and volunteer scheduling (Telluride Association of Realtors volunteers will continue), and pursue congregate‑meals designation and small ongoing grant funding from the region.
Commissioners praised the collaboration and thanked the volunteer organizers; they approved transferring the unspent portion of the county’s annual $20,000 commitment to Tri‑County on the county’s standard payment schedule.
