Moriarty-Edgewood board recognizes spring athletes, robotics state champions and student council officers

The Moriarty-Edgewood School District board used part of its May 20 meeting to recognize student-athletes and extracurricular successes.
Softball coaches and players were acknowledged after Coach Patricia and Coach Amy reviewed season records and statistics: varsity softball finished 19'7, placed second in district and advanced to the state tournament; several players were named to all-district teams and one player was recognized as the district 2 4A player of the year. Coaches emphasized athlete development, growth at the JV level and student recognition.
Cheer and dance coaches reported competition results, including first-place finishes at a meet and a top-ten state result. Baseball and track coaches summarized district runner-up results and multiple state placings: the board heard that Carmen Dorsey Spitz won the state 3,200-meter title and other athletes placed at state and set school records in events including the javelin and relays.
The board also recognized the Morardi High School robotics team as 2025 New Mexico VEX V5 state champions and heard a recap of the VEX World Championships in Dallas; coaches and student captains described representing the state on the international stage and returning with competitive experience.
Student council reports concluded the recognitions segment: incoming vice president Madison Toatello introduced the 2025'26 officers and said the council intends to continue assemblies, homecoming and other student events.
The board extended congratulations and noted upcoming senior awards and graduation ceremonies.
