One member said they had seen social-media posts suggesting the applicant had already been hosting events that included alcohol and that a call to the city clerk had previously indicated such activity was not allowed without a license. “She was very open about that on social media, including photos of what was being done,” a member said when moving to deny; others urged caution and preferred holding the item to allow the applicant or agent to appear.
Committee members discussed the practical consequence of denial: a denial could bar reapplication for six months, and in some cases members referenced a 12-month bar. Given an event scheduled for the coming weekend, the committee voted to postpone action for two weeks to allow staff to verify whether alcohol service was taking place and to invite the applicant or agent to the next meeting.
