North Brunswick honors student athletes and Buddy Ball volunteers at June meeting

The North Brunswick Township School District Board of Education used part of its June meeting to recognize student athletes from spring sports and to honor volunteers in the Buddy Ball program.
Athletic director Mr. Shamarell said 21 student athletes signed to play in college this year — the highest number the district has recorded. Coaches called up and described individual accomplishments: Aiden Lucos was recognized as the all‑time kills leader in boys volleyball; Gabriella Melendez batted .388 and is on track toward 100 career hits; Jordan Terabokia was noted as the school’s all‑time strikeout leader with 707 strikeouts; and other athletes were honored across tennis, golf, baseball and lacrosse.
Coach Grimes introduced the track team’s awards and highlighted multiple county and sectional titles, several athletes who will compete in the NCAA and school record performances. The board also presented a resolution recognizing 11 senior volunteers in the Buddy Ball program, which pairs roughly 30–40 players with special needs with approximately 40 student and community volunteers across three seasons each year. Program leader Mr. Wen said the program regularly fields about 100 people on the field or courts during its seasons and thanked the volunteers.
These recognitions were presented before the board moved on to routine business and committee reports.
