Tuscaloosa council approves contracts, disbursements and sets special election for April 14

Tuscaloosa City Council approved a package of routine resolutions, contracts and funding disbursements and set election logistics for an upcoming special municipal election.
Among the approvals were professional services and procurement contracts with MXI Environmental Services LLC; Fast Signs (minor public works); Redpoint Audio LLC; Millennium Satellite and Video Inc.; Civic Plus LLC; Shaw Engineering Company Inc.; ESB Group Inc.; Skyio Inc. (with a bid-law exemption); and Power DNS Inc. The council also authorized district disbursements for the West Alabama Multicultural Alliance and Skyland Elementary School and accepted donations to the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force. Police staff reported no objections to special-event licensing and staff reports were filed where required.
The council appointed election officers for the 2026 special municipal elections and set the special election for District 3 on April 14; the clerk told the chamber, "The special election for District 3 is April 14th. Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 [p.m.]." The clerk also said the last day to apply for a regular absentee ballot is April 9 and provided contact information for the clerk's office and 311.
Council also adopted amendment Nos. 9 and 10 to the fiscal year 2026 general fund budget. All items in this package were adopted by unanimous vote.
