The Jefferson Elementary School District Board approved multiple routine actions and set a date for its annual governance workshop during the regular meeting.
On a roll call vote, trustees approved the consent agenda (motion and second recorded and passed). Trustee Miss Cover recorded yes votes from Aaron Rashba, Andrea Jordan, Shaquille Ali, Eileen Poly Carpio and Anthony Suji Saka. A pulled consent item (7EB, classified personnel employment) was discussed by trustees and then approved by roll call; several newly hired classified employees were named in open session and the board publicly thanked them.
The board adopted Resolution No. 25924A designating the week of Oct. 12–18, 2025, as Week of the School Administrator and cited Education Code 44015.1 during the reading. The motion passed unanimously on roll call.
The board also approved retirement recognitions for two long‑service classified employees (Clarinda Lauderdale and Joanne Sura) with effective dates and asked staff to prepare appropriate resolutions of commendation.
On governance planning, the board selected Jan. 31 for an annual governance workshop facilitated by Lynette Hodson of School Services of California and set a 9 a.m.–3 p.m. time block to cover mission and goal alignment, the board self‑evaluation, and budget/facilities advisory committee updates. The motion to set the date and time passed by unanimous vote.
What’s next: Administrative staff will prepare follow‑up paperwork for the hires and retirements, circulate governance‑workshop logistics, and provide trustees with requested budget/facilities updates at future committee meetings.
