Board approves camera system, Tyler consulting contract; transportation seeks to expand accessibility

The Taos Municipal Schools board approved several operational items on March 4 aimed at improving safety, financial systems and transportation access.
Safety and security supervisor Diego Trujillo requested a security camera system for the new Cyber Magnet Academy and Chrysalis High School. The board approved the purchase ($41,661.09) using a capital special appropriation (Fund 31200).
Director of Finance Dr. Reineer Martins asked the board to authorize up to $40,000 for Tyler Technologies consulting to reconfigure the district’s accounting system (add an eighth chart‑of‑accounts column, correct location codes, set appropriate security roles and enable procurement/time modules). Martins said prior module rollouts had not met configuration needs and that consultant help is necessary to remediate audit findings and fix payroll timing, procurement, and inventory controls. The board voted unanimously to approve the contract.
Transportation supervisor Michelle (Samantha) Martinez presented a used 2013 IC activity bus equipped with a hydraulic wheelchair lift. Staff said purchasing the bus (priced at $4,000) would reduce dependence on contractors for trips involving students with mobility impairments; this item was presented for information and drew board support for improving equitable access.
All actions on purchases and the Tyler consulting engagement passed on roll call.
