Parks and Recreation staff summarized seasonal preparations, thanked sponsors and outlined upcoming community engagement for the city's master park plan.
Staff named primary sponsors — Security Bank and Nelson Construction at the top level — and a list of additional supporters including Benson Remodeling, Lennox Insurance, Stockwell Engineers, Red Beard Construction and community donors. Staff also said potential donors are being pursued to support a new dog park.
On programming, staff reported registrations: 95 baseball and 88 softball players (T‑ball handled separately) with 10U tryouts complete and the first games to begin March 28; summer rec rosters are expected mid‑April. Staff said three recreation assistants were hired and lifeguard applications remain open.
The Parks & Rec Director announced the first steering committee meeting for the master park planning process immediately after tonight's meeting, two focus groups next Wednesday (one for local businesses and one for sports/facilities stakeholders), and a public meeting open to all on Thursday the 26th.
Members thanked sponsors and volunteers and asked staff to continue outreach on recruitment and scheduling for practices and games.
